Information, Belief, and Society: Bringing Pragmatism to the Modern Age

Information, Belief, and Society: Bringing Pragmatism to the Modern Age

Information is the foundation of belief and belief formation, without information you don't have a building block to begin to form habits around specific information. For example, become habits around something like you can wanna exercise a lot can begin that habit, but that need to begin exercising a lot. It's based on a specific information that you gain on why exercise may be beneficial. And this may be. And this is why the media is so important. We can't control ourselves. Okay, game or reform the media in any way at this point. But what we can do is look at this through a lens of specifically an American individuality lens and curate better habits and create better education processes to protect ourselves against the falls of modern society, and which will ultimately result in US protecting our democracy. So information is the foundation to modern society, but you have to have in a modern society, you have to have the education, infrastructure, and the processes, to be able to teach people how to form proper habits, around building and forming beliefs, from the information received. So this is being able to decipher the information that is given to them. And this is also being able to build the proper habits around the information given to them. And to know what to take action on next so how to properly apply the information given to the game. This is one of the ways in which American pragmatism can be brought into the modern age, in many ways, and understanding what information is given to them. How to just type for it, or what to build the proper habits around it. Routines costs state of growth, and then bringing it into the new realm, just merely seeing how john Dewey as brought philosophy to the real world. We need to do the same things with our information our habits. Today, tend to have many people are operating in on practical grounds, not in the worlds of like a philosopher dealing with abject takut topics. But in the realm of conspiracy and madness yet specific people dealing with a wonder if this type of person is doing this to these millions of people, which isn't practical at all, it doesn't give you actionable insights. It's not a good thinking habits to build your habits around, then we have another set of people building habits are building thinking habits around the information of a different type of abstract, a left wing abstract a different type of madness. That can't be truly brought into the real world. So, This is things like the social justice camp, etc. But now that we understand that information is the foundation to monitor society, D to be able to curate and build the infrastructure necessary to enable people to build better habits of thought. Around the information they receive and being able to decipher what information they're receiving is if they if they build these better habits of thought, they'll be able to decipher the information that they received better and more efficiently.

Where we may be getting into ideas of pluralism in a pluralistic society. It's not necessarily curating their better habits of thought in a specific round to reach one end, it's to have people on a spectrum. Within this pluralistic universe that may have these thoughts so people on the right will have specific habits of thought that are plausible people on the left with specific habits of thought that are plausible people in the middle will have specific habits of thought that are plausible. It's not to which specific end, but it is to enable a more pluralistic universe and this is where we come into contact with where this all meets ahead. The pluralistic universe is, is what is needed in American society today is.

The way in which attention. disrupts our habits today, or habit formation today, social media, so used to be information, then fight attention. Then have information. In traditional media. Now, in the way that media is constructed to social media, it tends to be focus more so attention than information than habit formation and what is key to belief formation is that strong initial information building blocks, of course, that we can talk about the need for greater habits of thought, which is needed as well, but it is that key building block of information that is needed, but whenever we sift to a more attention based process when disseminate disseminating information beliefs tend to now be founded, not on any real foundation or building block. There's no ideology behind it. It's all attention base. It's like the parable, Jesus, with no somebody's building their house on the rock in the sand. Today, into the attention. Based Economy, many people are building their rocks and their ideologies in their beliefs on the sand. And we see this manifested in various ways through lack of meaning and various existential issues today.

It's enabling us or incentivizing us to believe in infer about one another, and we're firm about forming our beliefs. Just in the ways I just took a headline, for example, a headline might say k k k, or what's, what's actually feminine this matter. Black Lives Matter and Tifa burn down judges building. The way in which that only leads to us inferring just let's just take purses, guiding principle of inference here. The way that takes us in which we we infer to believe about one another. It is very detrimental. We no longer view each other as individuals, operating in this pluralistic democracy. Democracy starts society, we just click that, that principle of influence influence what is true about one piece of copper is true about another piece of copper. It didn't manifest itself. So, what is true about these evil people is true about this evil person which comes true about this evil person. And we have specific types of people forming their beliefs on this information or these headlines, so we can even look at this on the left. It manifests in the same way. But it's true about this republican is true about this republican and true Baptist republican no longer does a person see them as an individual, but merely as another piece of copper. With this guiding principle of inference that people form. That is true to the fundamentals of psychology, but before forming their beliefs around this topic.

Belief is the foundation to how one lives acts in the day to day, their lives. So, let's say for example. Let's just examine the daily life. Let's see if we can infer about what you believe, simply from, how you act in your daily life so in your car, go to work. So you believe it is necessary to make money for just five. That's a belief right there. You try drive. So you have belief in the car, that it will transport you to the workplace. Whether or not that you like your job you can see your job, whether or not you like your job. It shows some belief there, and that you need one community, this job right now. I mean, if I didn't believe that you would quit and go find another job but you believe that you need this job right now and it is not quite yet. Quit. Okay, you get home from work or let's say you actually go to lunch with somebody. So you got to watch it the friend. You have to leave that you'll get some benefit from going to lunch with that friend, and maybe you don't even like the person but you'll have belief that you'll gain some no other type of gain from them. Go back to work, you start doing work, say you're a software engineer. You believe in your coding. You have belief that the code, we were writing will help this organization. Otherwise, wouldn't it do this or you have the leaf or let's actually prevent this one. We've had belief that the COVID you are writing is needed to help keep you paid so believing in this, in order to facilitate your day to day life so you leave work and go back home. And then you've been cooking and you have belief that this food you're cooking will nourish your body etc etc. So, and since the way we act in the day to day life, our habits. Actually reveal the what we believe about society and ourselves. And this is why it's important that we have proper habits of belief formation ingrained into society today. And there's only one piece of this that we can fix today as humans, which is the way that we form our habits and whether we form our beliefs around water media.

It's important to know the length of physical consequences of what media means to us today. Media is fundamental to our reality. Information is fundamental to our reality. As it's the foundation to which people begin to actualize their. The world and society today without information, what could one actualize they couldn't. So it's good that we need to have a proper clean channels for receiving new information etc unbiased information, but that doesn't seem to be a problem we can truly fix. But what we can focus on in the short term is the way that which people as human beings we take in media and filter it through our own habits of thought and consciousness is understanding the problem, and its whole scope. So, this is understanding, or this is having the proper habits of thought to begin to decipher information and begin to build belief systems around information that then become actionable insights, or actionable things in society today. Without belief, there is no action and without action, there's no society. So this is why it's crucial to understanding what one believes or have one, I'm taking into what they believe about society today.

So it's important to note the different aspects of what might include information as you can about media so thinking about fiction movies, television, music news is taking this information. They form habits and the form, beliefs around. What this information is presented to them so that you're applying other two sources of information to form a habit of beliefs, and people take these habits they take these beliefs, and then they activate these into society. So, one of the key areas that we can actually affect is the way in which people are forming these, these beliefs. So, creating good habits in ways that form these beliefs and is not purely focused on having a specific habit, but just in general, being able to form a plausible beliefs, and then actually have beliefs that can be actualized in society. You think about Christianity. The one of the things that it continues I would say it's plausibility of being based around, love and relationship, and whatever etcetera etcetera. That plausibility makes the beliefs, easy to actuate into modern day life. So, you're able to love your neighbor, makes it easier to actually see things in the modern life. So, information is the seed to which people begin to actuate beliefs into society. The only piece that we can affect is the way in which people form their beliefs, the middle part so information that actuation. Yeah, high formation belief formation. You have actuation. And the only way you can affect is the point in which people are forming these habits and teachings to to better methods to form a belief system and habits.

There's obviously the ills of modern information that are buying two, three things. Of course, financial incentives and the need to hope to teach in the next is lack of inspiring information is very rich This is all stems from the financial incentives in manifesting to other areas, lack of inspirational information. Inflammation causes. Of course, it's just in the ways in which information is presented to finance incentives and secret information. Media.

Difference between. There's a difference between giving information in inferred information. Each piece of information. Is it breaches are the same in forming a belief, to be actuated in real life. For example, let's say you're talking to a friend and they give you body language signals to that they're not very, or they're not very interested into, into actually having a conversation or not being friends anymore, etc. your beliefs about that person will change you will then we can't believe that that friend does not want to be friends with you anymore. And you will act upon that and maybe try to fix the problem or you will maybe just end the relationship. Altogether, but there's a difference between that inferred information, which is humans generally to spied on just seems to be very natural. So let's see peers first guiding principle influence and then there's the given information, which is from the media. So you can think of this as terms of movies films, etc. But if it was given to us, that's separate into our worldviews and form habits or beliefs around the information given, and then the actuating it's real life. So you can take for example watch fox news news, you start the habits of belief around right new thinking and then you can actuate right wing actions into real life.

Basically this information is fundamental to society, in that it is the foundation to forming beliefs and habits of thoughts, which foster actions in society. And these actions are what make the society. So, you can be given false information to giving specific types of information to different people and we'll see how that shakes the society. Specifically, and in this specific thesis. It is focusing around how to improve the habits of thought that play, modern society with the day. Not to focus on financial systems or society.
